Hello. My name is Steve Kerley. Just a little information about myself.

I found out at an early age that I wanted to play music. My mother used to play an old box guitar and I would at times talk her into playing it and sing for me. She could flat pick the strings off that old guitar, if you know what I mean. And talk about singing, she had the voice of an angel. Sometimes I would get it out and start strumming the open strings because I didn't know any chords at the time, and I would start singing songs that I learned from listing to the old AM radio. So, she decided to teach me some chords. I was about the age of 10 at the time. So that's how I started playing the guitar. My mother was my inspiration, mentor, and teacher all in one. After I learned to play the guitar, we would go to the family reunions, have family cookouts or just old-fashioned get-togethers and there was always music involved. (I didn't mention that most of my family members are musicians) And I would play along with them. The more I played the more I wanted to learn. Then I got interested in the piano. At the age of 16, my mother and stepdad bought me an old upright piano. I picked up a chord here and there by watching other people play, then I would go home and practice playing them myself. I've never been able to read music, so I had to learn by watching and listening to other people. I guess you would call it playing by ear. It all came natural to me since I was born into a family of musicians. So that's just a little bit of how my music career got started and I’ve been playing ever since.
